Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE was appointed President of the British Chambers of Commerce in March 2020. She was the CEO of Mitie Group PLC from 2007 to 2016, the first Asian female chief executive of a FTSE 250 company.
 
Who are the British Chambers of Commerce and what is their role?
The BCC is a network of 53 Accredited Chambers across the UK and in over 60 markets worldwide. Our role is to be trusted champions of businesses, places, and global trade, representing tens of thousands of firms of all shapes and sizes, which employ almost six million people across the country. We work with government to influence decision-making to achieve positive change for our business communities.
 
When did you become its President and how can you bring your experience to bear in its journey as its addresses challenges on many fronts?
