Why The Events Sector Is Crucial For The UK Economy

The UK economy is struggling, and has been for some time. That comes as no surprise to anyone in business – with each sector having faced its own unique set of particularly arduous challenges in recent years.
When it comes to finding a way out of the quagmire, there are certain industries people will particularly be looking to as having significant potential to boost the economic situation.
But are we overlooking the importance of the events sector and, if so, why?
 
The Main Event
According to the UK Events Report, the events industry was worth £61.65billion in 2023 – of which corporate events accounted for just over half (£33.6billion). This is, of course, less than the likes of manufacturing, which Make UK says is worth £220billion, and retail, which contributes more than 9% of UK GVA as confirmed by Government research.
