I meet Greg Clark in a building that feels like a thesis about Britain’s possibilities. The Lord Bhattacharyya Building at the University of Warwick—home to the National Automotive Innovation Centre—has that hum you get when engineers are wrestling with problems that matter: batteries, software, lighter materials, faster manufacturing cycles. As we settle in, Greg gestures to the glass-and-steel atrium and nods at the name above the door.
“Many of your readers will know how important Lord Bhattacharyya was to the UK and the West Midlands,” he says. “He founded Warwick Manufacturing Group, which I now have the privilege of chairing. It’s a stunning building—but more important is the stunning work being done here for the next generation of automotive technology.”
