After 29 incredible years at SDE Technology, stepping into a new chapter as Managing Director of CEL Sheetmetal was one of the boldest and most rewarding decisions of my career.
Leaving behind a business I’d helped shape for nearly three decades was no easy choice, but it was the right one. It reignited my passion, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and reminded me that growth comes from embracing the unknown.
For anyone considering a similar leap after a long tenure, here are my top ten tips to help make that transition successful:
1. Embrace the discomfort. Change is rarely easy, but it’s where growth lives. Expect uncertainty, and see it as fuel rather than fear.
2. Adapt fast. Industry knowledge is transferable, but every business has its own rhythm. Be ready to learn, observe, and pivot.
