The Office for National Statistics Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW, YE June 2024) reported that young people aged 16-23 consistently experience higher rates of both violent and hate crime, a demographic that predominantly includes university students.
In response, the Student Safety App (SSA) was created to facilitate a broader, nationwide conversation around student safety. Built by students, for students, the app empowers young people in higher education to look out for one another while navigating both campus life and the wider city environment.
