It Is Time To Double Down On Good Workforce Planning

After the unprecedented difficulties of 2020, you would have been forgiven for thinking that the economy and the jobs market would struggle to get going in 2021. Certainly, there have been significant job losses and unemployment has risen, alongside the terrible loss of life. But the government support schemes have been broadly successful at staving off the worst of the damage to the economy.
We are also seeing strong evidence of a bounce back. Employer confidence has surged as restrictions have been lifted, and this has translated into hiring activity.
Our Report on Jobs recorded permanent recruitment growing at the fastest rate we have ever seen in May, and that same growth has continued in the following months.
 
But there are some important challenges that we will have to deal with in the months and years ahead. One will be the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on young people. ...
